The Carer in Your Home.

Support that fits your life, not just your needs.

Inviting someone into your home is a big step.
Who they are, how they’re chosen, and how well they fit into your life matters just as much as the care they provide.

Live-in care only works when the person supporting you feels like the right person - not just someone with the right experience on paper. You’re sharing your home, your routines and your private space.

Trust matters. Personality matters. Feeling comfortable matters.

That’s why choosing the right carer isn’t a box-ticking exercise - and why you’re involved at every step.

.

What a Live-in Carer Is - and Isn’t

A live-in carer is there to support your life, not take it over.

They will:
  • Support you with personal care in a way that protects your dignity

  • Help you move safely around your home

  • Prepare meals you enjoy, in the way you like them

  • Support medication routines as agreed

  • Keep your home running day-to-day (light housework, shopping, everyday tasks)

  • Accompany you out and about, if and when you want

  • Offer companionship, reassurance and a familiar presence

  • Follow a care plan built around you - providing the level of support you need, from everyday help to more complex care, as your needs change and evolve

  • Notice small changes - and communicate concerns early so the right support can be arranged.

  • Respect your home, your belongings and your privacy.

They won’t:
  • Take control of your home or routines

  • Rush you, pressure you, or impose their own way of doing things

  • Be expected to work without rest, boundaries or clear support

  • Bring additional people into your home - your privacy and security come first

  • Manage complex financial matters - they can support day-to-day practicalities, but legal or financial decisions remain with you or your representatives

  • Make decisions for you - support is guided by your wishes and agreed care plan

  • Provide nursing care beyond their training - specialist or clinical support is arranged safely and with proper oversight

  • Replace family - but they will support you to stay connected to the people who matter

Finding the Right Fit for You

You’re not “allocated” a carer. You’re involved in the matching process - because compatibility matters just as much as capability.

We take time to understand:

  • how you like your days to run
  • what makes you feel comfortable (and what doesn’t)
  • your routines, preferences and personality
  • what kind of person would feel right in your home

Sometimes, even with care and experience, a match doesn’t feel quite right straight away - and that’s okay. We don’t force it. We listen, adjust and keep going until it feels right.

That honesty protects long-term relationships and better outcomes.

Peace of Mind

Opening your home to support requires confidence and trust. Behind the scenes, there is a rigorous recruitment process - but what matters to you is simple: you can feel confident about who is supporting you at home.

Every live-in carer goes through:

Starting the Conversation

Choosing live-in care isn’t about committing to anything straight away. It starts with a conversation about what matters to you, what you’re unsure about and what you want life at home to feel like.

And if live-in care isn’t the right answer for you?
We’ll tell you.

Skills, Experience and Ongoing Support

Care needs change. People change. Life changes.

No carer is simply “placed” and left to manage alone. Ongoing support matters - for them and for you.

Our guiding philosophy is Live Happy Care Well, based on the principle that people can’t pour from an empty cup.

Every live-in carer is backed by:

  • Ongoing training as needs evolve
  • Nurse-led clinical oversight
  • Regular check-ins and supervision
  • A local team who knows your care
  • A dedicated Care Team Manager (the same as you - so everyone is on the same page)
  • A Happiness Manager focused solely on their wellbeing

And if something changes - your health, your routine, or simply how things feel at home - support adapts with you.

Because good care isn’t static. It moves with life.

How This Fits With Cost

The carer you’re matched with - their experience, the level of support needed, and how care is structured all play a part in cost.

We explain this openly and early, so there are no surprises later.

If you’d like to understand how live-in care costs are shaped, you can explore that here:

The Ocean Healthcare Difference

Social proof you can trust

Don't just take our word for it.

Local Teams. Real People. Responsive Support.

When you need support, distance shouldn’t be a barrier.
And it shouldn’t feel hard to reach when you need someone.

You’re supported by teams based here in the Southwest - not a call centre miles away.

You’re supported by local teams who:

  • Know your area and local services
  • Can respond quickly if something isn’t right
  • Are available when you need to talk something through
  • Work closely with local GPs, district nurses and community teams
  • Understand the realities of rural and coastal living

Your Care Team Manager, nurses and support team all operate locally - and the service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That means if reassurance is needed in the evening, if plans need adjusting at short notice, or if something unexpected happens, you’re not left waiting for office hours.

That local presence matters - especially when a quick conversation or clear decision brings peace of mind.

Starting Your Journey with Ocean Healthcare

Beginning with a conversation about what matters most to you helps bring some clarity - and makes it easier to understand what support might feel right.

Those conversations are open and honest. If live-in care isn’t the best fit for your situation, we’ll say so and help you think through other options. What matters is finding the right kind of support for you - not fitting you into a service.
