DEVON
Join Our Complex Care Team. Supporting Adults and Children With Complex Needs. Bank-Contracts Available. Earn while you learn Skills for your studies!
Turn your summer break into valuable experience for your future career.
Ocean Healthcare is recruiting students to join our care teams across Plymouth, Exeter and Torbay. This opportunity is particularly suited to students studying nursing, healthcare, education, psychology, social care or another related subject who want to gain practical experience while earning money over the summer.
You will support adults or children with additional and complex needs in their own homes and communities. This is not a traditional domiciliary care role involving short visits to multiple people. Many of our roles involve longer shifts supporting the same person, allowing you to build relationships and provide consistent, person-centred care.
Every care package is different, but your summer experience could include:
Working alongside experienced care and clinical teams
Supporting people with complex healthcare or additional needs
Developing your communication, judgement and confidence
Learning how person-centred care works in practice
Building relevant experience for your CV and future placements
Earning up to £800 per week, depending on your availability and shifts
You will always be fully briefed before joining a care package, so you understand the person’s needs, the support required and what will be expected of you.
We offer:
Hourly pay from £13.50
The opportunity to earn up to £800 per week
Part-time and bank contracts
Day, evening, night and weekend shifts
Longer shifts that can be arranged around your summer availability
Available shifts vary depending on location and the needs of each person we support.
You will receive a week of paid, face-to-face training delivered by our nurse-led clinical team and specialist trainers.
Depending on the people you support, training may cover areas such as:
Tracheostomy care
Ventilation support
BiPAP and CPAP
Enteral feeding
Medication support
Moving and handling
Safeguarding and person-centred care
Training is tailored to each individual care package. You will also receive ongoing guidance and support throughout your time with us, rather than being left to work things out alone.
