Care Assistant required to support a 22-year-old woman in her family home. 1:1 support including PEG and JEJ feeding, oxygen therapy, and epilepsy management.
Ocean Healthcare are looking for an experienced Care Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a 22-year-old woman with a genetic chromosomal disorder. She lives at home with her parents and her four guinea pigs, and enjoys animals, stickers, and collecting leaflets. She is a wheelchair user but can walk short distances, and requires support with PEG and JEJ feeding, oxygen therapy, and epilepsy management. She communicates using both verbal communication and Makaton, so patience and a willingness to adapt your communication style are important in helping her feel understood and comfortable.
Her environment plays a big role in her wellbeing, and she benefits from calm, thoughtful support from someone who is attentive to her needs. Your role will focus on keeping her safe, supporting with food and medication, and providing reassurance throughout the day in a way that respects her preferences and routines. We are looking for someone who is not only experienced, but genuinely caring, observant, and able to build a trusting relationship. Full training and ongoing support will be provided to ensure you feel confident in meeting her clinical needs.
