PLYMOUTH
Care Assistant to support a young adult with autism, ADHD and a learning disability in Plymouth. Monday – Friday day shifts available: 10:00-18:00.
Ocean Healthcare is looking for an experienced Care Assistant to join our complex care team to support a 20-year-old young man living with autism, ADHD and a learning disability. You’ll be working as part of a consistent team supporting him in a structured and familiar environment where routine and understanding are essential.
Routine plays an important role in his day-to-day life. He prefers to complete his activities in his own way and at his own pace, and values being able to do things independently wherever possible. Because of this, the role is about working alongside him, recognising when support is needed while respecting his independence.
He enjoys spending time with people who understand his communication style and who can interpret what he needs. He particularly loves water play and sensory activities, and enjoys relaxing in his hammock, spending time around the fire pit and watching films such as Monsters Inc. Certain times of the year, including Halloween and Christmas, are especially meaningful to him and part of what makes his routine enjoyable.
Changes to routine or situations where he cannot communicate what he needs can sometimes cause distress, so carers who are calm, patient and able to adapt their approach will be essential in helping him feel safe and understood.
Shift Details:
10:00 – 18:00 Monday to Friday
Pay Rates:
£15.00 p/hr Monday - Friday
£20.55 p/hr Bank Holidays
