PLYMOUTH
Care Assistants required to provide 2:1 support Day shifts for a young woman living at home with type 1 diabetes and additional support needs - promoting her safety, wellbeing and independence. Available Monday-Sunday.
Ocean Healthcare is looking for a compassionate and experienced Care Assistant to support a young woman with diabetes and mental health needs in her own home. She requires 2:1 support to ensure her safety and wellbeing, with a strong focus on building trust and helping her grow in confidence and independence.
You will support her with diabetes management, including blood glucose monitoring and recognising the signs of hypo- and hyperglycaemia, alongside providing consistent, informed emotional support. Establishing a calm, reassuring presence and developing a positive relationship will be key to helping her feel safe and empowered.
She is motivated to live as independently as possible, and you will play an important role in encouraging to make choices about her routines, and take an active role in shaping her goals.
She has a creative and fun-loving side and enjoys arts and crafts, nail painting, swimming and football. Supporting her to access the community, pursue her interests and enjoy meaningful experiences will be a rewarding part of this role.
Shift Details:
Monday - Sunday: 08:00 - 20:00 (Excluding Wednesday)
Pay Rates:
£ 15.00p/hr Monday-Friday
£ 17.55p/hr Saturday-Sunday
£ 20.05p/hr Bank Holidays

Key Responsibilities
Providing 2:1 support to ensure her safety and wellbeing

Ensuring appropriate food and fluid intake in line with her care plan
Providing consistent emotional support in a calm and reassuring manner
Promoting independence and supporting her to make choices about her day
What We’re Looking For
An experienced Care Assistant who has supported individuals with diabetes
Experience with complex mental health support
The ideal candidate will be confident and experienced in supporting individuals with complex needs. While experience supporting diabetes management would be beneficial, it is not essential as full training and ongoing support will be provided. You'll be bubbly, fun and engaging.
