Complex Care Healthcare Assistant Night Shifts for a Child in Torrington, North Devon

Ocean Healthcare are looking for an experienced Female Care Assistant to support a 14 year-old girl through the night at her home in the Torrington (North Devon).

This young girl is registered blind and has epilepsy. She has Global Development Delay and requires PEG feeding, a suction tube to assist with swallowing and the use of a Nebulizer. She's non-verbal and non-mobile and requires a hoist for all transfers.

She lives at home with her family and four dogs.

Shift Details: 10pm-6am (6 nights per week available)

Pay Rates:

  • £13.80 p/hr Mon-Thurs

  • £14.05 p/hr Fri

  • £16.05 p/hr Sat-Sun

  • £19.05 p/hr Bank Holidays

For consistency a minimum availability of 2-3 nights a week would be preferable up to a maximum of 4 nights each week. Flexibility would be appreciated, but we are willing to consider your personal circumstances if there are nights/times you are unable to work.

Mileage paid after your first 7 miles to this location in Torrington up to a maximum of 20 miles each way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Using hoist for transfers

  • Suction Support and Cough Assist

  • PEG Feeding

    Experience with suction, cough assist and PEG feeding would be useful, but training will be provided. You will be supported until you are signed off as competent

What We're Looking For

  • Experienced and confident Care Assistant

  • Being calm and gentle is really important.

  • Reading stories and spending time in the sensory room is key part of care.

  • You will need to be adaptable to fit in with the dynamic of a busy family home.

What You'll Need

  • Strong experience as a Care Assistant

  • Good References (covering at least 3 years)

  • Commitment to delivering great care

  • Reliability and good communication

  • Right to to work in the UK (We do not offer Work Visa)
