EXETER
Care Assistant required to support a young woman with a Spinal Cord Injury in Exeter. Night shifts available Monday to Sunday.
Ocean Healthcare are looking for an experienced female Care Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a woman in her early 30s at her adapted bungalow in Exeter. She lives with quadriplegia following a high-level spinal cord injury and requires 24/7 care. Her care needs include pain management, bowel care and all aspects of personal care. This includes monitoring for Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) and intervention if required. AD is a condition that results in a severe and potentially dangerous rise in blood pressure.
She prefers consistency in her routine and typically feels most comfortable with female carers around her age.
She enjoys spending time with her daughter, having her hair, makeup and nails done, watching reality TV, and using her laptop. She lives with a family member and her pet cat.
Shift Details:
21:00-08:00 Monday to Sunday
Note: We are looking for someone who would like to work flexible nights throughout the week. Ideally you'd be able to cover a minimum of 2-3 nights per week.
Pay Rates:
£14.80 p/hr Monday-Thursday
£15.05 p/hr Friday
£17.05 p/hr Saturday-Sunday
£20.05 p/hr Bank Holidays

What We’re Looking For
An experienced and confident Care Assistant
Experience with Spinal Cord Injury is required
Experience with AD would be very helpful, but not essential
The ideal candidate would be confident, resilient and personable. You'll be an experienced and confident Care Assistant, competent with manual handling but full training and support relating to AD and other aspects of supporting with Spinal Cord Injury will be provided.

You must be a car driver
Reliability and good communication
Right to to work in the UK (We do not offer Work Visa)
