Care Assistant

Ocean Healthcare is looking for an experienced Care Assistant to join our complex care team, providing 2:1 support for a gentleman in his 60s living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) - a rare neurological condition that progressively affects the nervous system.

He has lived with MND for nearly ten years and receives nurse-led care, including tracheostomy management, ventilator support, PEG feeding and colostomy care. He also requires full assistance with mobility, using a wheelchair and hoist for transfers, and communicates using eye gaze technology.

He is passionate about the sea and conservation, actively involved with the Great Britain Green Foundation and Wet Wheels, a charity making boating accessible to everyone.

A former rower, runner, gym-goer, boxer and Muay Thai enthusiast. He has interest in global news, UK business and politics. He spent a successful career in the international food industry, travelling the world before settling back in Devon.

He enjoys getting out into the community, going shopping and spending time on his boat during the summer months.

During the night shift, your focus will be on maintaining a consistent routine, providing skilled airway management and ensuring a safe, comfortable night’s rest

Shift Details:

• 18:45-07:00

Note: it would be great if you were flexible enough to do a minimum of 3-4 days per week for consistency, but we recognise that doesn't suit everyone. Please contact us if you're interested to discuss your availability. You can work full or part time.

Pay Rates:

• £17.00 p/hr Mon-Thur Night

• £17.00 p/hr Friday Night

• £19.00 p/hr Saturday - Sunday Night

• £20.05 p/hr Bank Holidays
