Healthcare Assistant (Complex Care)

Ocean Healthcare are looking for an experienced Female Healthcare Assistant to support a young woman in Exeter. She was sadly involved in a road accident in which she sustained a high-level spinal cord injury resulting in quadriplegia. She now requires 24/7 care.

She enjoys having her hair, make up and nails done. Enjoys watching reality tv and using her laptop. She likes to go out and likes carers who can drive and dislikes routine being changed.

Our lovely service user lives in an adapted bungalow with a family member, providing 24-hour support, and her pet cat. She requires pain management and bowel care as well as all other aspects of personal care. Experience with AD (Autonomic Dysreflexia) would be a real advantage but not essential. Care involves going out in an adapted car so being able to drive would be helpful.

Shift Details:

2 - 4 shifts available each week. Flexible hours with long days 8am - 9pm.

Shorter shifts of 9am - 1pm and 7pm - 11pm are also available.

The ideal candidate would be a resilient, seasoned carer with a solid understanding of personal care, and experience with moving and handling. We are looking for a highly experienced healthcare assistant to join our team supporting this young woman. It is not essential that you have specific experience in spinal injury as you will receive comprehensive training and support.

You need to be an experienced carer. It is not essential that you have specific experience working with complex needs as you will get all the training you need. You will be trained and supported by our outstanding team of specialists and nurses. This will involve training and shadowing until one of our nurses is happy to sign you off as competent. Training is paid for.

Pay Rates:

• £14.50 p/hr Monday - Friday

• £17.05 p/hr Saturday - Sunday

• £20.05 p/hr Bank Holidays

Note: Paid Weekly or Monthly

For consistency a minimum availability of 2-3 days a week would be preferable up to a maximum of 4 days each week. Flexibility would be appreciated, but we are willing to consider your personal circumstances if there are nights/times you are unable to work.

Mileage paid after your first 7 miles to this location in Exeter up to a maximum of 20 miles each way.
