Female Care Assistant needed to support a lady with Spinal Injury. Days 0800-2100. Bowel Care, Pain Management and doing Hair and Make-up!
Ocean Healthcare are looking for an experienced Female Care Assistant to support a young woman in Exeter. She was sadly involved in a road accident in which she sustained a high-level spinal cord injury resulting in quadriplegia. She now requires 24/7 care.
She enjoys having her hair, make up and nails done. Enjoys watching reality tv and using her laptop. She likes to go out. It would be very helpful if you were able to drive her car. She has strong preferences and is fully able to express herself and communicate what she wants/needs.
Our service user lives in an adapted bungalow with her brother and her pet cat. She requires pain management and bowel care as well as all other aspects of personal care. Experience with AD (Autonomic Dysreflexia) would be a real advantage but not essential. Expert and comprehensive training provided.
You will be working 1:1
Shift Details: 0800-2100 (2-4 shifts available each week)
Shorter shifts of 9am - 1pm and 7pm - 11pm are also available.
Pay Rates:
£14.50 p/hr Monday - Friday
£17.05 p/hr Saturday - Sunday
£20.05 p/hr Bank Holidays

Hair and Make-up is a real priority, having fun with it and being good at it is important.
The ideal candidate would be a resilient and experienced healthcare assistant with a strong understanding of personal care, and experience with moving and handling. It is not essential that you have specific experience in spinal injury as you will receive comprehensive training and support. You will be trained and supported by our outstanding team of specialists and nurses. This will involve training and shadowing until one of our nurses is happy to sign you off as competent. Training is paid for.
