Care Assistant to support a 40-year-old woman with complex needs in her home in Plymouth. Day and Night shifts available.
Ocean Healthcare are looking for an experienced Care Assistant to support a 40-year-old woman in her home in Plymouth. She lives with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and chronic pain, is non-weight-bearing, and uses a wheelchair and hoist for mobility. She also has a catheter and PEG. Supporting her will include medication administration along with her general well-being and independence.
She lives in her own home with her fiancé and father visiting regularly.
She is a bubbly, outgoing individual who loves getting her nails, lashes, and hair done by a beautician who visits her home. She enjoys shopping trips, visits to Starbucks, theatre outings, and arts and crafts sessions at home.
Being a driver is essential, as she loves getting out and about. She also has a great love for dogs.
You’ll provide 1:1 care with additional 2:1 support for manual handling during specific times.
Shift Details:
08:00-21:00 Monday to Sunday
20:00-09:00 Monday to Sunday
This includes Manual Handling (2:1): for the one hour cross-over in the morning and evening.
Note: it would be great if you were flexible enough to do days and nights, but we recognise that doesn't suit everyone. Please contact us if you're interested in Days and/or Nights.
Pay Rates:
£14.50 p/hr Mon-Fri
£17.05 p/hr Saturday - Sunday
£20.05 p/hr Bank Holidays

Key Responsibilities
Ensuring her safety at home and encouraging her independence
Providing care as necessary while upholding her independence and preferences
Assisting with manual handling (2:1) during the morning and evening shifts
Monitoring her well-being and administering medications as required
What We’re Looking For
Confident, engaging, and personable
Experience with cerebral palsy is highly desired but not essential as full training provided
Proactive in promoting independence and maintaining a positive, respectful approach
The ideal candidate would be confident and personable. You'll be an experienced care assistant and competent with moving and handling and medication. Experience with cerebral palsy and epilepsy would be useful but not essential as full training provided.
What You'll Need
Good References (covering at least 3 years)
You must be a car driver
Reliability and good communication
Right to to work in the UK (We do not offer Work Visa)
