Care Assistant

Ocean Healthcare are looking for a Care Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a young girl with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a genetic disease that causes muscle weakness. She has additional complex needs and your role will involve helping with her feeding and medication through a PEG tube, as well as supporting her with Deep Suction, Cough Assist and a Nebuliser.

She is non-verbal but bright, clever and has a great sense of humor. She loves music, books and using an iPad. She attends school with support.

She lives at home in Brixham with her mum, dad and brother.

Shift Details:

• 16:00-22:00 every other Saturday

• 22:00-08:00 Tuesday

Note: We are looking for someone who would like to work flexibly between the day and night shift, but we recognise that doesn't suit everyone. Please contact us if you're interested in either or both the day and night shift and would like to discuss your availability.

Pay Rates:

• £16.05 p/hr Saturday

• £13.80 p/hr Tuesday

Key Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

• You'll have experience working with children

• Experience with PEG feeding, Deep Suction, Cough Assist and a Nebuliser would be helpful, but not essential as full training will be provided

The ideal candidate would be a confident, calm and experienced Care Assistant. You'll have experience working with children. PEG feeding, Deep Suction, Cough Assist and Nebuliser experience would be desired but not required as full training will be provided.

What You'll Need

• Good References (covering at least 3 years)

• You must be a car driver

• Reliability and good communication

• Right to to work in the UK (We do not offer Work Visa)
