PLYMOUTH
Support Worker to support a 17-year-old boy with autism, a learning disability and some challenging behaviours at his home in Plymouth. Day shifts available 7 days a week.
Ocean Healthcare are looking for an experienced Support Worker to provide care for a 17-year-old boy with autism, a learning disability and some challenging behaviours. He is non-verbal and requires 2:1 support around the clock to help him navigate daily life, build relationships and engage in activities he enjoys.
His favourite activities include intensive interaction, where he responds to and engages with communication cues, outdoor activities such as running and ball games. He also enjoys music and TV. He benefits from a structured day using visual schedules and a variety of activities.
He lives in his own home in Plymouth.
Shift Details:
08:00-20:00 Monday to Sunday
Note: it would be great if you were flexible enough 3 or 4 shifts per week, but we recognise that doesn't suit everyone. Please contact us if you're interested and to discuss your availability.
Pay Rates:
£15.00 p/hr Mon-Fri
£17.55 p/hr Saturday - Sunday
£20.55 p/hr Bank Holidays

Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent and proactive support
Assist with personal care, including toileting and occasional incontinence
Help develop communication skills using his preferred methods
Maintain a structured and safe environment
Support in managing behaviours, including property damage with patience and understanding
Work as part of a team to provide 24-hour support
What We’re Looking For
Experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities or challenging behaviours is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided
Confidence in managing behaviours with a compassionate and proactive approach
Good communication skills – verbal and non-verbal approaches
The ideal candidate would be confident and personable with a calm, patient and understanding approach. You'll be an experienced Support Worker and be able follow structured routines and respond to sensory needs. You'll be able to work as part of a team and follow care plans.
What You'll Need
Good References (covering at least 3 years)
You must be a car driver
Reliability and good communication
Right to to work in the UK (We do not offer Work Visa)
While there are lots of work opportunities within Ocean Healthcare, the terms detailed in this job advert are specific ONLY to this package of care. Permanent and bank contracts available. You can work full or part time.
