Care Assistant

Ocean Healthcare is looking for an experienced Care Assistant to support a gentleman in his 80s living with Dementia in Totnes. He has limited mobility and verbal communication, requiring assistance with moving and handling and support with personal care. You'll provide 2:1 support.

He enjoys puzzles, spending time in the garden and being read to.

He lives at home with his wife and cat in a non-smoking household.

Shift Details:

• 09:00-13:00 Monday to Sunday

Note: it would be great if you were flexible enough to do a minimum of 2-3 days for consistency, but we recognise that doesn't suit everyone. Please contact us if you're interested to discuss your availability.

Pay Rates:

• £13.00 p/hr Mon-Thurs

• £13.30 p/hr Friday

• £15.30 p/hr Saturday - Sunday

• £18.30 p/hr Bank Holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care, including toileting support

• Moving and handling

• Prepare breakfast and assist with meals and drinks

What We’re Looking For

• Confident, engaging and personable

• Experience with Dementia care is highly desired

• Experience with moving and handling and medication is desired but full training will be provided

The ideal candidate will be confident, friendly and assertive. You'll be an experienced care assistant, competent with moving and handling and medication. Experience in supporting someone with Dementia is preferred.

What You'll Need

• Good References (covering at least 3 years)

• You must be a car driver

• Reliability and good communication

• Right to to work in the UK (We do not offer Work Visa)
